Culture and Tourism Centre of Bac Lieu City creats the Cyclo Service!!!

Authorities in Bac Lieu province, Vietnam introduced a ‘cyclo’ service, last week,  that offers tourists an interesting way to tour the city’s sights up close and at a slow speed.
The service was created by Culture and Tourism Centre of Bac Lieu City to make it easier to visit attractions close to the city centre.

The provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism vice director, Nguyen Vu, said a team of 20 cyclo drivers are on duty to take travellers on sightseeing tours to the main attractions in this Mekong Delta tourism gateway.
Cyclos are a term for bicycle taxis ( pedi-cabs) that carry up to two passengers in on seat with a canopy located at the front while the driver sits at the rear of the three-wheel bike.
The tourist attractions include Hung Vuong Square, home to a huge stylised “don kim” (a traditional musical instrument); the newly renovated edifices of “Cong Tu Bac Lieu” – or sons of wealthy families living in the province in the early 1900s who adopted a opulent lifestyle spending the hard-earned wealth of their parents and the Ho Nam Ecotourism Complex.
Other scenic spots are Nha Mat Manmade Sea Tourism Complex, the largest in the delta, the commemorative complex dedicated to ‘Don Ca Tai Tu’ (southern traditional music), and Cao Van Lau – a revered composer.
‘Don Ca Tai Tu’ was recognised by the UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity late last year.
Tour guides are stationed at all tourist attractions, the vice director said adding that the cyclo drivers have received training in basic communications and customer service.
Bac Lieu is a province of Vietnam situated in the Mekong Delta region at the southern tip of the country, well south of Ho Chi Minh City.
