VietJet Air will commence a new domestic service and increase flights on three existing routes this October.
On 1 October, it will kick off a daily air link between the business hub of Ho Chi Minh City in the south and Haiphong, the country’s third largest city on the northern coast.
From 14 October, the carrier will lift frequencies on the Ho Chi Minh City – Nha Trang route from daily to twice daily and increase the Ho Chi Minh City – Danang service from two to three daily.
It will also increase the Hanoi- Danang service from one to twice daily.
VietJetAir currently operates three Airbus A320 aircraft between Vietnam’s four cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Danang and Nha Trang with 10 flights a day.
Later this year, the airline will take delivery of three more A320 increasing the fleet to six. With the additional aircraft, it is considering more domestic services as well as its first regional service.
Routes under consideration are Hanoi – Phu Quoc, Hanoi – Dalat, Ho Chi Minh City – Hue, Ho Chi Minh City – Vinh and Ho Chi Minh City – Bangkok.
VietJetAir will increase flight frequency on several domestic routes on October 14 while offering discount fares as low as VND99,000 (US$4.75).
The promotion will raise the number of round-trip flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang to two per day, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang to three per day and Hanoi – Da Nang to two per day.
Ten thousand promotional tickets on the routes will be available until the end of March next year.
The airliner is flying eight daily return trips between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, two daily flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, one from Hanoi to Da Nang, and three or four return flights per week between Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang, a route that opened August 3. The Hanoi-Nha Trang route is only open for the summer with one flight per day.
It will open another route from Ho Chi Minh City to the northern port city of Hai Phong on October 1, with one return trip a day
