Swiss International Air Lines has launched special introductory fares for its new daily nonstop service from Singapore to Zurich due to start 13 May.
The lowest economy class is pegged at S$705, while the business class costs S$3705.
There are conditions. Travellers must purchase their tickets between 14 January 2013 and 28 January 2013 and the travel period runs from 13 May to 30 November.
Previously, SWISS served Singapore as an extension of its daily Zurich-Bangkok service, but it became unprofitable once low-cost airlines flew the Bangkok-Singapore sector.
The new nonstop route will be served by A340-300 aircraft, offering 219 seats. The westbound LX 179 flight will depart from Singapore at 2310 and arrive in Zurich at 0610 on the following day. The eastbound LX 178 service will leave Zurich at 2245 and touch down in Singapore at 1710 the next day.
The airline hopes to tap mainly business travel as more European companies; particularly banks and investment firms have based their regional offices in Singapore to cover the ASEAN region.
The airline is promoting the service and low fares on www.swiss.com as well as offering the fares through travel agents.
The two highlighted fares are round-trip and include taxes, surcharges but could change due to currency exchange fluctuations.
Swiss International Air Lines serves 69 destinations in 37 countries from Zurich, Basel and Geneva and carries around 15 million passengers a year on a fleet of 91aircraft.
SWISS generated total operating income of CHF 4.9 billion in 2011. It is part of the Lufthansa Group, and is also a member of Star Alliance.
