Vietnam
plans to set up tourists support centres nationwide particularly in localities
that welcome 1 million tourists or more each year.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism,
support centres will have a hotline number and staff who can speak foreign
languages to help handle tourists’ problems around the clock.
The hotline number 119 has been assigned for the time being
but could be replaced in the future.
The centres will open in major tourist destinations such as Hanoi, Danang and Ho
Chi Minh City where there have been complaints of
tourists being robbed or cheated.
Police are beefing up their presence and are checking
tourism-related businesses to ensure they are legal and adopt clear policies on
pricing and food safety. There are also projects planned that will offer
language tuition to taxi drivers.
