2012 International Balloon Festival to be held in Vietnam

The first Vietnam International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (VIHABF) 2012 will be held in Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province, from August 31 – September 2.

Around 50 international balloonists the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, the UK, the US, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and hosts, Vietnam will take part in the festival featuring up to 30 colourful hot air balloons in different shapes and sizes.

The festival will also include a series of activities including a trade and tourism fair, a musical show, and a glowing night performance in which the balloons will be decorated with lanterns and fly with a background of music.

A photography contest and exhibition on the theme ‘Binh Thuan- Sunshine and Blue sea’ will be held before and during the festival from August 26 – September 3.

The event, held by Binh Thuan provincial People’s Committee and Ho Chi Minh City- based Chien Thang Service Co., Ltd, aims to celebrate the 67th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2) and the 20th anniversary of the province’s re-establishment (1992 – 2012).
