Travelers who think they will be able to beat the fast food
chains to Myanmar
will need to think again. If the fast food chains are not already there they
are clamoring at the door to set up shop as fast as possible.
Organizers of the MYANFOOD ’13 EXPO, an international food
& drinks Show that will be hosted in Yangon, this November, identify what
they call the fast-food revolution taking place in Myanmar right now.
They hope to canvass the food chains of Asia
to attend and tap what is still an emerging market for the fast food boom.
In addition, Malaysia ’s
Marry Brown has also recently announced that they will open 20 restaurants over
the next five years in the country.
Lining up are the major US chains including KFC, McDonald’s
and Pizza Hut are set to open outlets first in Yangon, the commercial capital,
as soon as all the remaining US sanctions on Myanmar are lifted.
The food and beverage show has already 250 exhibitors on the
books including pavilion bookings from the EU, Singapore ,
Malaysia , China , Korea ,
Japan , Thailand and Taiwan .
The fast-food and hospitality segment of MYANFOOD’13 will be
held 6 to 8 November at the Tatmadaw Exhibition Hall in Yangon .
MYANFOOD 2013 is the official platform for industry leaders
to promote their latest products and services to over 6,000 buyers representing
key decision makers including restaurant owners, hoteliers, supermarkets,
retailers, caterers, and importers/distributors.
The event is held in conjunction with MYANHOTEL 2013 – Myanmar ’s major
F&B and Hospitality Show.
More exhibitions and trade fairs are being organized for the
next two years, all indicators of the fast changing business scene that is
taking shape in the country.
