Thai AirAsia launched its daily Bangkok-Nay Pyi Taw service, while Bangkok Airways increased its services to daily on the same
route.
Officials at Myanmar ’s
ministry of transport confirmed that Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines
have filed for rights to fly to the capital in time for the SEA Games that
opens early-December.
“We have received proposals from Singapore and Malaysia Airlines,”
Deputy Minister for Transport Zin Yaw told the Union Assembly.
The ministry says it will invite more airlines to land at
Nay Pyi Taw, while locally owned FMI and APEX airlines, both want to establish
bases at the capital to serve domestic routes.
During a six-month promotional period, airport authorities
cut landing fees in half and provided tax-free passenger services.
