The Thai Cabinet has given the green light to extend working
hours at five border checkpoints with Cambodia from 0600 to 2200 to boost
trade and tourism between the border provinces.
The government spokesman, Teerat Rattanasevi, said the
cabinet last Tuesday approved a Ministry of Interior proposal to extend working
hours at five border checkpoints with Cambodia .
Checkpoints:
• Ban Laem in Pong Nam Ron district of Chanthaburi;
• Ban Phak Kat in Pong Nam Ron district of Chanthaburi;
• Ban Hat Lek in Klong Yai district of Trat province;
• Ban Klong Luek in Aranyaprathet district of Sa Kaew
province;
• Ban Chong Chom in Kap Choeng district of Surin.
Up until now checkpoints were open 0700 to 2000.
It will require more immigration officials and some
checkpoints may continue with the present opening hours until the staff
shortage is resolved. Travellers should check in advance.
